Dear Hallmark,
I recently purchased one of your lovely Valentine's Day cards for my lovely wife. As I was perusing the selection of available cards it struck me that several of the verses were variations on a theme: "I don't say 'I love you' very often but I do, really I do." Cards like that are of no use to me. I tell my wife I love her often, sometimes even multiple times a day.
I am sure the undemonstrative husband slash boyfriend demographic is a big one and you guys are obviously the market leaders, with sentiment down to a science, but just one damn time I would like to open up a card that says "I know I tell you I love you all the time but I'm telling you yet again just how much I do because I know you love to hear it every time. Happy Valentine's Day!" I would so buy that card, and I wouldn't be the only one.
Sincerely yours,
Jeff Rose
