I think it's one of the major factors contributing to the all too common view of IM/IT as a cost centre instead of a value add.<br /><br />I've perceived the same behaviour in other service-oriented units and I wonder whether getting so focused on <i>how</i> you deliver service that you forget <i>why</i> you're there is simply an occupational hazard for those lines of work.
